Earth & MIneral Pigments + Egg Tempera
Egg tempera painting uses the yolk of an egg as the binder.
First separate the yolk from the egg white by cracking the egg and then passing the yolk back and forth between your hands until the white has fallen through your fingers.
Remove the yolk from the sack by piercing the yolk and letting it drain out over a small dish. You do not want the empty sac and can discard this part of the egg.
Mix the yolk with your ground pigment and use water to dilute the paint to a thinner more workable consistency.
Add a drop of clove oil to increase the time of usability before spoilage. This paint will not store and must be used immediately and made per use.
